FAQs
Joining the Choir
Do I need to be able to read music?
Not at all! While it helps, many of our members learn by ear. We provide sheet music and recordings to help you practise at home.
Do I need singing experience?
No experience needed – just a willingness to have a go. If you enjoy singing in the shower or car, you’ll fit right in.
Do I need to audition?
No auditions here – we’re a friendly bunch. Come along to a rehearsal and see if it’s for you.
Is there a membership fee?
Yes, we do have a small subscription to help cover room hire, music, and running costs – but it’s kept as affordable as possible.
Rehearsals
When and where do you rehearse?
We rehearse every Wednesday and Friday evening at 19:00, at Featherstone Methodist Church. You’re welcome to pop along and try a rehearsal any time.
What should I bring to a rehearsal?
Just yourself and a willingness to have a go. We’ll provide music and a warm welcome (and a quid for a brew).
Performances & Events
Do you do concerts?
Yes! We perform regularly in Featherstone and across Yorkshire, and occasionally further afield. Keep an eye on our Calendar for upcoming dates, or subscribe to our newsletter.
Can I book the choir to sing at an event?
Absolutely – we love performing at community events, weddings, fundraisers, and more. Drop us a line via our contact page and we’ll get back to you.
About the Choir
How long has the choir been going?
Since 1963! You can read all about our story here.
How many members are there?
We currently have around 45 members, but there’s always room for more voices.
Is it all serious, or do you have a laugh too?
Oh, we definitely like a laugh – and a cup of tea. Singing is good for the soul, and so is friendship.
