Belgium Weekend

Concert at St George’s Church Ypres

Menin Gate Last Post Ceremony

A very busy and very emotional weekend of singing was had by the Choir on our third invitation to sing at the Mennin Gate Ceremony in Ypres.

The weekend started with a battlefield tour which was centred around some of the men who’s names are on the Featherstone War Memorial, the tour culminated with our own personal Choral  tribute to the fallen.

After lunch we then gave a Concert at St George’s Church to a full and enthusiastic audience.

Our day concluded with a very emotional service at “The Last Post Ceremony” at the Mennin Gate.

Richard Hirst had the Honour of doing the address “They Shall not Grow Old”etc.

George Potts excelled on the Bagpipes with his Lament.

Our Musical Director Paul Rhodes also deserves a special mention for his inspired musical choices of songs for the Ceremony.
